Cortney Gilchrist

β€œIt is what it is. It was what it was. It will be what it will be.” - Dulce Ruby

Cortney Gilchrist, one of our awesome veterinary assistants, is a native of the north country, having grown up in Glen Park, NY.  She obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Agricultural Technology from Alfred State College because of her love for animals and worked on a dairy farm for a short period of time before joining our team at The Animal Doctors.  When asked why she chose The Animal Doctors, Cortney said that she already knew two of our team members and knew that our team was close-knit like a family.  Her particular interests within veterinary medicine include assisting with surgical patients and assisting with medicine appointments.

Cortney is a genuinely caring person who wants every client and patient coming into the clinic to have a good experience. She has taken on a dual role as a veterinary assistant and client service representative. She is incredibly kind and helpful on the telephone and tries to get people answers to their questions in an extremely timely fashion. She is quiet and calm around the animals, which is especially helpful for the fearful pets that arrive at our clinic. She absolutely melts when she gets to hold a chocolate Labrador Retriever or Pitbull puppy! Cortney tries to keep her teammates happy with her upbeat, positive attitude. She holds her own with any team pranks, and she is a force to be reckoned with during games involving finding hidden objects!

A fun fact about Cortney is that she is a volunteer firefighter for the Glen Park Fire Department. She has both an Interior Firefighter Certification and a CPR Certification. In her spare time, when she is not fighting fires, Cortney loves to scrapbook, be outside, read, and tend to her chickens (a new hobby)! She loves spending time with her two Lab/Pitbull dogs, Maverick and Remi, as well. She also loves being a human mom!

If you could leave one piece of information for every pet parent, what would it be?

Always ask questions.
